For applications like crowd management, routing and navigation within buildings, Locus Smart Positioning provides an excellent solution. Within buildings and other locations where GPS is not available, Locus Smartphone positioning uses the SDK (Software Development Kit) of the user. Locus determines the exact location of the user within the building and is able to track when he is moving through the building. Location related updates can then be pushed to the user, to give useful information based on the where her or she is. This provides a active and actual routing and navigation information which can be used for crowd management in locations like big events, airports etc.
Navigating buildings can be difficult. To provide navigation within buildings a good estimate of the position is required. GPS does not provide enough accuracy in an indoor environment to allow for accurate navigation. The Locus Smartphone positioning SDK provides accurate positioning information, which can be used together with map and navigation to allow for a helpful indoor navigation experience. The Locus Smartphone positioning SDK determines the position of the user indoor by combining BLE (or WiFi) together with dead-reckoning. Using the patented calibration-free positioning approach, no calibration of the environment is required for installation.
For smartphones running on Android and IOS
The Locus Smartphone provides positioning and navigation for smartphones running on Android or IOS. The SDK runs completely local on the smartphone and requires no internet connection to perform positioning. This provides great privacy for the user of the app, location data is not shared with any cloud-service by design!
The Locus smartphone SDK has some significant benefits:
- Realtime Tracking: Locus combines dead-reckoning and signal-strength positioning for realtime tracking
- Privacy by design: no user positions are shared with any cloud-service, user data stays private!
- No calibration of the environment: Calibration is time-consuming and usually ineffective, environments change and calibration needs to be redone periodically.

Integration
You can integrate Locus Smartphone Positioning into existing Android and IOS projects by importing the smartphone SDK. Maps of the beacons and routes should then be provided in the openstreetmap format. These maps can be hosted on the Locus Cloud Service but optionally they also can be loaded from tyour local filesystem as well.
